Colwood House has 12 acres of garden with mature and specimen trees from the late 1800s, lawns and woodland edge. Other features include a formal parterre, rose and herb gardens, a100ft terrace and herbaceous border overlooking flower rimmed croquet lawn. There is also a cut turf labyrinth and a forsythia tunnel, water features, statues and gazebos, a pets' cemetery, a giant chessboard, a lake with island and a temple.
This garden is open in aid of the National Garden Scheme. The NGS have donated over £63 million to nursing and health charities and made an annual donation of over £3 million in 2021. Their core beneficiaries include Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie, Hospice UK and The Queen’s Nursing Institute.
