A EuroMillions player from the Mid Sussex District has come forward to claim a £1M lottery prize, bringing an end to days of speculation over the unclaimed win.
The ticket holder matched five main numbers and one Lucky Star in the EuroMillions draw on the 2nd of January, securing a £1 million payout. However, the prize initially went unclaimed, prompting the National Lottery operator to issue a public appeal last week urging players in Mid Sussex to double-check their tickets.
Allwyn, which runs the National Lottery, said it was keen to reunite the winner with their money as quickly as possible, reminding players that prizes can only be paid once a valid ticket is presented.
The appeal sparked renewed interest across the district, with many residents checking old tickets and online accounts to see if they were holding the winning numbers. The winner has now made contact and completed the claims process, meaning the prize can be paid out.
Allwyn has not released any details about the identity of the winner, in line with National Lottery rules, but says it will now provide the ticket holder with access to specialist support, including financial advice, to help them manage their sudden windfall.
National Lottery officials continue to encourage players to check their tickets promptly after each draw, as prizes must be claimed within 180 days. Any winnings not claimed within that period are returned to National Lottery-funded projects across the UK.
For the Mid Sussex winner, however, the wait is over, and a life-changing £1 million prize is now safely claimed.
