A man is fighting for his life after what police believe was a hit and run in Storrington

Police are appealing for witnesses to a collision in Storrington that left a pedestrian with life-threatening injuries.

Officers were called to reports of a man lying in the road on the A283 Manleys Hill, Storrington, at 22.52pm on Monday (July 12).

He was believed to have been involved in a collision with a vehicle which had then left the scene.

The road was closed at the junction with Chantry Lane while the victim - a 21-year-old local man - was treated by paramedics from South East Coast Ambulance Service.

He was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Investigating officers traced a vehicle believed to have been involved in the collision and its driver - a 53-year-old man local to the area - was arrested.

The road was reopened shortly after 6am on Tuesday morning (July 13).
