Adult social care costs increase in West Sussex

West Sussex County Council faces a £22.8 million overspend this year.

The council says its budget is largely driven by increased demand and rising costs in adult social care despite injecting an extra £82 million into frontline services.

West Sussex County Council bosses assure the public they are on track to reduce staff and implement the savings required to balance the budget.

West Sussex is not alone in finding ways to save money; other councils across the UK are also struggling as the population ages and more people face the cost of living crisis.
