Appeal for witnesses to assaults on woman in Worthing

Police are appealing for witnesses to two assaults on a woman in Worthing

The first incident took place at around 5pm on Wednesday 14 July in Cortis Avenue, when two men males approached the 40-year-old victim, one carrying a metal bar making threats to harm her. They then made off in a large pickup truck.

The second incident took place on Monday 19 July at 4.30pm when a man approached a black 4X4 vehicle parked in The Boulevard, near Durrington railway station. The suspect used a bottle to spray a substance over the woman inside. She suffered minor injuries.

A man aged 40 has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm with intent in connection to the incident and have been released on bail until 18 August pending further enquiries and a 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and has been released on bail until 17 August. The suspects and the victim are all known to each other.

Crime Investigator Perry Humphreys said: "We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the two incidents or anyone who may have dashcam or CCTV footage of them to make contact with us."
