Brighton's i360 entering administration

The leader of Brighton and Hove City Council, Bella Sankey, has strongly criticized the former Green administration, claiming they owe the city an apology for backing the i360 project and approving substantial loans to fund it.

The i360 announced yesterday that it is entering administration, leaving the council with a debt burden of £51 million, including interest.

Sian Berry, Brighton’s Green MP, has defended her party, pointing out that she was not in the city when the project was built. She argues that it's unfair to place all the blame solely on the Green administration.

Berry is urging all political parties to come together and focus on strategies to maximize the earning potential of the i360.

The Brighton i360, a towering observation attraction on Brighton's seafront, was designed by Marks Barfield Architects, creators of the London Eye. Opened in 2016, the futuristic structure features a glass pod that ascends 138 meters, offering panoramic views of the city, the South Downs, and the coastline. Despite its innovative design, the i360 has faced financial challenges, struggling to attract enough visitors.
