In less than a months time The Big Sleep Out will be taking place at Chichester Cathedral to raise money for the Stonepillow charity.

After a two-year break, and now that restrictions have been lifted, Stonepillow told us they're really looking forward to Saturday 16th October at Chichester Cathedral for ‘The Big Sleep Out’.

The fundraising event provides a significant contribution towards the funds desperately required to ensure the continuation of all Stonepillow services.

Chief executive Hilary Bartle told V2 Radio: We do it every year, to enable us to not only to raise funds, for our services, which are not funded through other sources, but also to raise awareness of the people who are homeless or rough sleeping.

"Although it's only sleeping on a cardboard box for one night, it's a taste of what it might feel like to be doing that on the streets".

Hilary also told us homeless is now greater than ever, due to furlough ending soon and the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

The charity is calling on the community to support them by joining in the Big Sleep Out , either at the Cathedral or virtually at home.
