Masala City beat restaurants across the country for the title

A Chichester curry house has beat restaurants across the country to be crowned Restaurant of the Year at the Nation's Curry Awards.

Masala City was named overall winner of Curry Restaurant of the Year - while also gaining the title of Curry Kitchen of the Year - at an awards ceremony in Manchester on the 20th of February. Over 150 guests represented restaurants across the UK, even  standing in for those as far north as Glasgow.

Co-owner Murad said he's "very excited and delighted" to have received the title.

"This one was a dream come true, we thought we were good enough, but not good enough to be the best in the country."

Announcing the winners in a Facebook post, organisers praised winners for their "high level of skill and creativity in their culinary creations."

"Your dedication to the industry and passion for great food is truly inspiring."

Restaurant-goers flooded the comments section to congratulate Masala City on the win. One, Ed Chalmers, described their dishes as "absolutely excellent! Definitely the best curry I've had!".

The restaurant thanked customers for their "unwavering" support.
