People are being invited to give their views on proposals to improve the A24 between Worthing, Horsham and Dorking.
West Sussex and Surrey County Councils have launched a public consultation to help shape future transport upgrades along the key route. An online survey is open until 27 October, with residents, commuters and businesses encouraged to share their experiences.
The councils say they want to understand more about the challenges faced by those who use the A24 regularly, as well as gather feedback on early proposals.
Measures under consideration include:
-
Easing congestion and improving safety at key junctions
-
Introducing bus priority measures and upgrading bus stops
-
Enhancing walking and cycling paths
-
Improving crossing facilities for people walking, wheeling, cycling and horse-riding
Cllr Joy Dennis, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport at West Sussex County Council, said: “We recognise the strategic importance of the A24 and want to make it safer, more reliable and accessible to everyone. Enhancing this key route will not only improve daily journeys for local residents and commuters but also strengthen economic links and connectivity between West Sussex and Surrey, benefitting local businesses and communities. The best insights will come from those who use it regularly, so I encourage everyone with an interest to use the online survey to tell us what they think.”
The project is still in its early stages, with any improvements dependent on securing external funding. If approved, work would be delivered in phases over the coming years.
