Explosive "ordnance" found on beach in Selsey

It was reported to the Selsey Coastguard Rescue Team yesterday

An explosive ordnance was found yesterday at Medmerry beach in Selsey.

The O.E.D (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) team was called in from Selsey Coastguard Rescue Team to deal with the incident, and the beach was closed off to the public.

A search from the team found more cases of ordnance on the beach - which has not been specified. Ordnance are items in Military terms, and could refer to ammunition or explosives.

The team arrived and carried out a controlled explosion at around 14:45.

The Coastguard are reminding people that Ordnance can come in many shapes and sizes. If you come across anything suspicious you're advised to call 999 and ask for the coastguard.
