Former Mayor Paul Wells calls for better Household and Waste facilities in Bognor Regis

Former town Mayor of Bognor Regis petitions WSCC to extend tip opening day

Paul Wells a former Mayor is calling on West Sussex to review the opening hours at the towns waste and recycling centre calling for a return to a seven day operation for the community at the facility in Shripney road.

Shortened opening hours and reduced opening days has led to large queues forming on the A29 leading to the facility causing problems for local business and residents being able to access the centre.

The hours and service being provided have also led to increased fly tipping within the Arun area.

Paul has now set up a petition online calling on WSCC to revert back to a seven - day operation. The petition also asks the County Council to look at a more suitable and sustainable site within the Bognor Regis area to provide a household waste and recycling centre fit for purpose and to encompass the growth of the area.

The Petition also requests West Sussex County Council to provide a recycling shop within a new site.

Paul said “Increased fly tipping in the community is a direct result of reduced hours and opening days at our facility in Bognor Regis, the introduction of a booking system is only going to add more frustration for local residents.

It’s time WSCC started taking notice of the resident’s views and deliver a service fit for purpose. The current arrangements are unsustainable for the community.

Although I stood down from being a local councillor two years ago I’m so incensed by some of the decisions being taken now over the tip and other issues I’ve decided to put myself up as a candidate for Bersted in the forthcoming elections for WSCC.”
