An 80 metre ship has become stuck in Littlehampton Harbour after loosing its mooring.

A ship in Littlehampton has become stuck after its mooring became loose in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday 30).

A harbour spokesman confirmed that the vessel, named Elise, was then 'safely grounded' and awaiting a rise in tide so it can be taken to another berth within the site.

"The river currently remains open for the navigation of all craft because there is sufficient space to navigate between the vessel and the west bank."

It all comes at the same time as news of the Ever Given container ship stuck on the banks of the Suez Canal is pulled by salvage teams.

A spokesperson for the harbour also confirmed that some disruption is likely later today as "a brief closure of the river between the Red Footbridge and Littlehampton Marina" due to high water level expected.
