UPDATED: GCSE results day in the South

(C) V2 Radio 2024 - GCSE Results in the south

Thousands of pupils across the South have been opening their GCSE results.

According to government stats - In West Sussex, 69.5% received grade 4 and above, which is equivalent to the old C and above. That’s zero-point 4 percentage points worse than last year.

East Sussex had the same score as West Sussex, but slightly worse than in 2023.

In Hampshire, the number of pupils scoring 4 and above stands this year at 67.9%, the same as last year.

What to do if you feel stuck

West Sussex County Council’s careers advisors are on-hand to provide free, one-to-one advice on a range of issues. 

It could be the grades you received weren’t what you were hoping for, you need help finding a place at university, further education, training or employment, or you’re unsure about your options and next steps.

Hampshire County Council will again open its helpline at 9am on the day to offer advice, information and support to anyone uncertain about their next steps in education, training or employment.

At the end of the line will be members of the Local Authority’s professional careers advice team from Hampshire Futures, who are also able to respond to enquiries sent by email to careers.service@hants.gov.uk
