A horse rider in Arundel is campaigning for urgent road safety improvements following a series of near-miss incidents.
Rory Leggett, an instructor at Arundel Riding Centre, is raising concerns over the dangers posed to horse riders on the busy roads surrounding the town.
Leggett is particularly focused on the A284 and A27 Arundel Bypass, key routes that see a significant volume of traffic, including large vehicles traveling at high speeds. He believes that introducing traffic calming measures, could make these roads safer for all users.
The A27 Arundel Bypass has long been a source of concern for local residents and road users, with its high-speed traffic creating risks not only for horse riders but also for pedestrians and cyclists. Leggett’s campaign aims to highlight the vulnerability of those who share these routes with motor vehicles and to push for solutions that prioritize safety.
Meanwhile Sussex Police are urging the public to report instances of antisocial or dangerous driving through their Operation Crackdown website. The platform allows residents to document reckless behavior on the roads, enabling authorities to take appropriate action.
With increased awareness and community involvement, Leggett hopes his campaign will lead to meaningful changes that protect everyone navigating Arundel's busy roads.
