Local by-elections have been called

Arun District Council

The timetable has begun for the by-elections for the district council - Barnham ward vacancy as well as the West Sussex County Council - Felpham ward vacancy.

The by-elections follow the death of Councillor John Charles who held both seats and will be held on Thursday 8 September 2022.

The Notices of Election have been published and can be viewed on the Arun District Council Website. All information on the district council by-election can be found at https://www.arun.gov.uk/arun-district-council-elections, and for the county council by-election at https://www.arun.gov.uk/west-sussex-county-council-elections

The Returning Officer at Arun District Council is accepting completed Nomination Papers between Thursday 4 August 2022 and 4pm on Thursday 11 August 2022, which must be delivered by hand to The Returning Officer at Arun District Council, Civic Centre, Maltravers Road, Littlehampton, West Sussex, BN17 5LF. 

You can find out who will be standing for election when the Statements of Persons Nominated are published on Friday 12 August. The statements will also be displayed at the Arun Civic Centre, Littlehampton and Bognor Regis Town Hall.

If you live in these areas and are registered to vote you will receive a poll card very soon.  If you aren’t already registered to vote, details of how to do this can be found on the Arun District Council Website at Register to vote | Arun District Council.  Your application must be received by Arun District Council’s electoral registration office by Monday 22 August.

The deadline to request a new postal vote or to change or cancel an existing postal vote is 5pm on Tuesday 23 August. Requests for new proxy votes must be received by Arun District Council before 5pm on Wednesday 31 August.
