Lose the Litter - Says Arun District Council

The Council has put a plea out to those using beaches and other coastal hot spots.

Arun District Council said "It's great to see so many people enjoying the beaches over the summer, but it's not great seeing all the rubbish that is left behind."

They added that: "We are serious about keeping our district clean and green, littering is antisocial, harms wildlife and costs money to clean up."

As the summer continues, the area is seeing a record number of visitors from all over, which is unfortunately seeing an increase in the amount of litter left.

The council are in contract with Biffa, work all year round to keep our streets and public areas clean and litter free.

Their teams are responsible for emptying the bins and cleaning the streets of our district.

However, the council have provided extra bins along the seafront and extra collections to empty them, but they say they need visitors and residents to do their bit too.

They ask that before people leave the beach, to please take two minutes to tidy up any rubbish and put it in a bin or take it home to dispose of if the bins are full.

If bins are full, you can report it on the Arun District Council website here: https://www.arun.gov.uk/litter/
