A man from Farnham has been jailed for 29 months after he hurled objects at a hotel during a protest in Aldershot.
29-year-old Perrie Fisher of Hillside Road in Farnham gathered outside Potters International Hotel along with approximately 200 people on Wednesday, the 31st of July.
Although police say the majority protested peacefully, Fisher’s behaviour turned aggressive and violent. He was later seen throwing objects at the hotel before banging on the doors.
He was arrested and charged with violent disorder. Fisher pleaded guilty to the charge at Basingstoke Magistrates Court (20 August). He also pleaded guilty to failing to surrender to police / court bail at the appointed time.
Fisher appeared at Winchester Crown Court yesterday (21 August) and was jailed for a total of 29 months.
Assistant Chief Constable Tara McGovern said: "While the majority of people who attended this protest in Aldershot were respectful, Fisher chose to act in an aggressive manner and his behaviour spiralled out of control.
"His behaviour that day caused fear of violence to those inside the hotel and our officers.
"This result highlights that this sort of behaviour will not be tolerated and it is a clear message that these actions have consequences.
"Our officers conducted a thorough investigation, and worked quickly with the Crown Prosecution Service to ensure swift justice is carried out.
"This should serve as a warning to anyone else considering trying to bring mindless violence to our streets and that the minority who seek to cause disorder will face the full force of the law."
