A van driver from Swansea was convicted of smuggling seven migrants into Newhaven port.
Anas Al Mustafa, aged 43, faced conviction at Lewes Crown Court for facilitating illegal migration by transporting six men and one woman on a ferry from Dieppe to Newhaven.
The migrants were discovered and released after their cries for help were heard.
Mustafa is scheduled for sentencing in September.
