Secondary school places are being announced today and in West Sussex nearly nine out of ten pupils who applied will be given their first preference school, with 97.3% offered one of their three preferences.
West Sussex figures show:
• All 9,079 pupils who applied have been offered a secondary place for this September.
• 7,983 of those applicants (87.9%) will be offered their first preference school, a slight increase on last year.
• 97.3% of all applicants will be offered one of their three preferences, the same as last year.
Anyone still waiting for their offer shouldn’t be concerned as email offers should be received no later than 5pm today (Monday, 1 March).
Nigel Jupp, Cabinet Member for Education and Skills, said: “This year’s admissions process has of course had the added difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, so I am especially pleased that we are again able to offer nearly 90% of applicants their first choice school, just as we did last year.
“I hope these students can now begin preparing to make the step to secondary school after what has been such a turbulent 12 months in their education.”
