Police are appealing for witnesses following a reported domestic assault in Hove.
Police were called to Dyke Road, near the Tesco Express petrol station, at around 8.30pm on Monday, 30 December, after receiving a report of an assault at a residential address. Emergency services attended the scene and a woman was taken to hospital as a precaution, where she was assessed by medical staff.
A 50-year-old man from Seaford was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He has since been released on conditional bail while enquiries continue.
Sussex Police say they're keen to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything around the time of the assault. Officers are also asking drivers who were travelling along Dyke Road, or anyone who stopped nearby, to check dashcam footage which may help with the investigation.
Residents in the area are being reassured that incidents of domestic abuse are treated seriously and that specialist officers are involved in supporting victims and gathering evidence. Police have also stressed that reporting concerns, even if people are unsure whether something is significant, can make a vital difference.
Anyone who witnessed the assault, noticed suspicious behaviour, or has information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact police on 101, quoting serial 1180 of 30/12. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crimestoppers.
