Residential burglaries on the rise in North Chichester

Chichester Police say thieves are targeting equipment such as quad bikes.

Chichester Police say "over the last few days we have experienced a number of residential burglaries in the north part of the Chichester District".

The local force believe they have taken place overnight and targeted rural and garden equipment, such as quad bikes, ride on lawnmowers and mini tractors.

There are now calls for residents to ensure sheds, garages and outbuildings are secure when they are not in use. They are increasing patrols in the area but also state if you see someone acting suspiciously, to get it touch.

Chichester Police have created a check list for people who may be concerned about these thefts.

1, Get a strong padlock.

2, Take a photo of your equipment.

3, Make a note of any serial numbers or identification numbers.

4, Use a marker pen to mark your items.

5, Ensure any CCTV, ring door bell or dash cams are working.
