Staff at a children’s home run by West Sussex County Council have received royal recognition after the service was rated outstanding for a third year running.
Ofsted inspectors praised the exceptional skill, compassion and commitment shown by staff at Orchard House.
That dedication was also recognised by the King at a celebration for local government workers held at St James’s Palace.
Orchard House provides short and long-term care for up to 14 children aged between five and 18 years with learning disabilities.
Councillor Jacquie Russell, Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Learning, said: “The outstanding recognition for Orchard House reflects the extraordinary dedication of our staff, who work tirelessly to create a safe, nurturing environment where children are supported to grow in confidence, independence and happiness. It demonstrates our commitment to keeping children and young people safe and ensuring everyone can thrive and achieve their full potential, no matter what challenges they may face.
“It was also wonderful to see this long record of excellence recognised by the King. This honour is testament to the remarkable work happening every day at Orchard House and across our social care services. I am incredibly proud of all our teams, who ensure every child receives the very best care, opportunities and protection.”
