Santa Claus is coming to Littlehampton

A new event for Wick in Littlehampton is coming on Saturday 20th November and bringing with it plenty of festive cheer for all.

Wick’s Community Christmas, organised by the Wick Action Group with support from Littlehampton Town Council and funding from the ‘Welcome Back Fund’, will have many Christmassy activities on offer for children and families.

Centred around the switching on of the Christmas tree outside Wick Hall, the event will start at 5pm with activities in the Hall and walkabout acts around Wick Parade. Make sure you visit local businesses as some will be putting on special offers.

Children are invited to join in the free lantern making workshop, 5-6pm in Wick Hall, to make their own creation to be placed under the Christmas tree before the Town Mayor, Councillor Michelle Molloy, switches it on at 6pm. Bring a glass jar if you can!

Also in the Hall, there will be free face painting, a bouncy castle and festive treats. Santa is taking a break from his busy schedule and stopping at Going Spare to meet and greet children, every child will receive a free present.

The Chair of the Policy and Finance Committee, Councillor Dr James Walsh, said: “I am delighted that the Town Council have been able to work together with Wick Action Group and Arun District Council to put together a free event for the whole community using the Government’s funding to support the safe return to shopping areas. The programme looks fantastic so make sure you save the date in your diary.”

Spreading even more Christmas magic will be Elsa and Olaf who are visiting from Arrendelle to enjoy the festivities with local children. Plus, there will be a free prize draw to win a hamper from Morrison’s and other goodies donated by local businesses. Event goers will receive a ticket and the Mayor will draw the winner on the evening.

Speaking about the event, Member of the Wick Action Group and ward Town Councillor, Mike Northeast said: “Our group was keen to put on a festive event to help make this time of year special for children and their families. It has been a tough couple of years for many people and this event is an opportunity to celebrate Wick’s community and support our local businesses. We are very appreciative of the opportunity the Welcome Back Fund has given us to make this a possibility as well as all the goodwill and generosity of the local community.”

The Wick’s Community Christmas is part of a wider programme of free festive events funded by the European Regional Development Fund taking place in Littlehampton between 19th November and 18th December. The full programme is available at www.littlehampton-tc.gov.uk/christmas21 or pick up a copy from the Manor House in Church Street.
