Hampshire County Council says it will now pause plans to eliminate 17 school crossing patrols while it reviews the idea.
The council previously announced that it would axe patrols in Fareham, Havant, Gosport, and other areas across Hampshire before April of next year to save money.
However, schoolchildren, their parents, and teachers have told the council they’re concerned about safety and urged them to rethink the proposals.
The council is already facing a budget black hole of 175 million pounds for 2025.
