Selsey Coastguard called to reports of ordnance at Medmerry Beach

It happened on 6th May.

The item reported was unable to be located, but two other items were found and sent to the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team.

A cordon was put in place as a controlled explosion was safely carried out of the items at approximately 15:30.

Selsey Coastguard are encouraging the public to dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard if they see anything suspicious or unusual on any beach.

The Coastguard team returned to the station at 16:10.
