Shop for unique and inspiring gifts with The Novium Museum’s new online shop

Shoppers from across the UK are now able to access the exclusive range of products available from The Novium Museum just in time for Christmas, with the launch of a new online shop.

The virtual shop boasts a unique selection of gifts and souvenirs inspired by the museum’s collection, its exhibitions programme, and the local area.

 The online shop features a range of products inspired by exhibitions at The Novium Museum in Chichester, including:

• a Roman range to celebrate the museum’s Roman Gallery on the ground floor, where the archaeological remains of Chichester’s Roman bath house is on display.
• a product range designed and curated by local artists inspired by the museum’s Iron Age ‘Mystery Warrior: The North Bersted Man,’ which is now on permanent display on the first floor of the museum.
• a selection of LEGO Brick book and brick sets, complementing ‘Brick Wonders’, the museum’s new LEGO Brick exhibition, which will be open to the public from 4 December.

Shoppers can browse the museum’s range of tote-bags, greeting cards and prints with unique designs of Chichester landmarks, such as the Market Cross and the Cathedral by award-winning artist IIona Drew. The Market Cross image was commissioned by The Novium Museum in celebration of Chichester's historic landmark.

Also available are a range of mugs, magnets, cards and prints carrying local artist Bobby Print’s ‘Chichester Cityscape’ design, which has become an iconic representation of Chichester City and loved by locals and tourists alike.

Walking guides and maps are on sale for those looking to explore the beauty of the Chichester District and the South Downs.

Councillor Roy Briscoe, Cabinet Member for Community Services at Chichester District Council, says: “The Novium Museum, which tells the story of the history of our incredible district, not only attracts residents keen to find out more about their local area, but it also draws visitors from across the country, so it is fantastic to be able to extend the reach of the gift shop to the whole of the UK.

“Every purchase made goes towards supporting the museum, which due to the challenges faced as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, is more important than ever. With a beautiful range of unique and locally designed products and some perfect gifts for even the hardest to buy for, the online shop is well worth a look!”

The online shop has been made possible thanks to the South Downs National Park Authority, who awarded the museum a small visitor economy recovery grant of £1,647. The Sussex Innovation Centre kindly provided in-kind support by building the Shopify site as part of a pilot project with South Downs National Park Authority, aimed at supporting consumer business innovation.

A 10% discount is being offered to celebrate the launch of the online shop, and this is available until 17 December 2021. Simply use the code ‘LAUNCH’ at checkout.  Products can be shipped to any UK address or collected in person from The Novium Museum in Tower Street, Chichester.
