Events to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day are taking place across the South today, as communities come together to remember the end of World War II in Europe.
At Chichester Cathedral, a special Choral Evensong will be held this evening, followed by 45 minutes of bell ringing starting at 6:30.
In Selsey, celebrations begin at 7pm on East Beach Green, where the RNLI Lifeboat, Coastguard, and local fishermen will take part in a commemorative sail past.
The Chichester City Band will provide live music, and a beacon lighting ceremony will round off the evening.
Similar tributes are being held across the region, with events also planned in Portsmouth, West Wittering, Brighton, and Eastbourne.
For many attending, the day serves not just as a look back, but as a reminder of the resilience and unity that shaped post-war Britain. As the sun sets and beacons are lit across the coastline and countryside, the South of England joins the nation in marking eight decades of peace with pride, gratitude, and reflection.
V2 Radio will have tonight's coverage of events in Selsey on socials and in the news on Friday morning.
