Itinerary:
The itinerary planners have carefully crafted your cruise to coincide with traditional Christmas Markets in three European cities. Hamburg’s markets – which you can enjoy by day and night on this sailing as the ship will stay overnight – feature decorated wooden huts brimming with unique wares. You can sample Glühwein and wurst as you mingle with locals and fellow travellers, soaking up the festive atmosphere. Oslo’s city centre and Copenhagen’s colourful quayside, Nyhavn, boast even more markets for you to explore. Your journey also includes a scenic sailing along Oslofjord, passing the Olsen family home in Hvitsten, and navigating the iconic Kiel Canal – a feat only possible on a smaller ship.

  The River Elbe is one of Central Europe’s main waterways - stretching from the Czech Republic through to the North Sea via Germany. It winds its way through tall hills, past vast plains and alongside picturesque towns and cities.

  Slicing a man-made path through the German countryside, the Kiel Canal is on average this 61-mile long marvel of engineering allows vessels to avoid 250 nautical miles of sea sailing. Sailing slowly along the canal presents an opportunity to take in lush green countryside and a collection of interesting villages and towns flanking the still waters.

  Copenhagen is one of the oldest cities in Europe, with its monarchy dating back as far as the 8th century, and home to the impressive Royal Family’s Amalienborg Palace and Christianborg Palace. Danish charm exudes from the various wooden huts selling traditional handicrafts and festive food and drink, with festive lights reflecting brightly in the canal.

  On the shores of the Oslofjord, situated amongst the picturesque scenery of Hvitsten, lies Lysedal Mansion, the historic home of the Olsen family. Oslofjord is a haven for birdwatchers, and various species can be seen resting on the shores or flying high above the fjord.

  The Olsen family home in Hvitsten is located on the shores of Oslofjord, with the impressive Lysedal Mansion overlooking the waters. The inner part of the fjord is lined with dense forests, and is well known for the small group of islands that lie close to Oslo, whose beaches are hugely popular with locals.

Cabin category - D Twin Outside cabin on the European Christmas Markets cruise L2327, Southampton departure, Balmoral, 13 Dec 2023, 8 nights. One guest must be over the age of 18. No upgrades available. The free cruise cannot be exchanged for cash, cannot be exchanged to another person, cannot be exchanged for an alternative cruise. A gratuity of £5pp per day will automatically be added to the onboard account, which cannot be removed from the onboard account and must be settled at the end of the cruise.
