Around 9,000 Crawley homes hit by burst water main

Around 9,000 homes in Crawley have been affected by water supply problems following a burst water main on Sunday.

Southern Water said customers in several parts of the town experienced either no water or low water pressure on Sunday.

Among the areas affected were Southgate, Tilgate and Furnace Green.

The burst also caused flooding on local roads, leading to disruption for motorists.

Southgate Avenue and Crawley Avenue were closed, along with part of the A23, while the incident was dealt with.

Bottled water stations were set up to provide supplies for residents affected by the disruption.

Southern Water has been working to deal with the burst and the resulting problems with supplies.
