More than a thousand runners have taken to the streets and countryside around Chichester as the city’s Half Marathon returns.
The event, now in its 14th year, starts and finishes near Chichester College, with the main half marathon getting underway at 8.45am.
Runners will head through the city centre, passing local landmarks including Chichester Cathedral, the Market Cross and the Roman Walls, before making their way north towards the South Downs.
One of the toughest parts of the course is the climb towards The Trundle, before competitors begin the return journey into Chichester along Centurion Way.
Alongside the main 13.1-mile race, the event also includes a seven-mile route and an Inclusive Mile, giving people of different ages and abilities the chance to take part.
This year’s official charity partners are Chichester Cathedral and local homelessness charity Stonepillow.
A team of amateur runners is taking part to support Chichester Cathedral, which costs around £7,000 a day to maintain and does not receive regular funding from the Government or central Church sources.
Stonepillow also has a team taking part, including staff and people who have been supported by the charity.
The organisation works with people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness across Chichester, Bognor Regis and the wider Arun area.
The event is expected to bring runners, supporters and spectators into Chichester throughout the morning, with the final runners due to finish around lunchtime.
