A drug dealer caught supplying Class A drugs in Bognor Regis after being spotted by armed police has been jailed for two years.
Kirl Mutafchiev was driving an uninsured Renault Clio around the town carrying out drug deals when officers from Sussex Police’s Tactical Firearms Unit saw suspected dealing taking place.
The 21-year-old was stopped in Somerset Gardens on 5 August and arrested.
Although Mutafchiev initially denied dealing drugs, officers searched him and discovered 25 wraps of a Class A drug hidden in his underwear.
Police said further evidence showed he had been supplying cocaine in Bognor Regis using a mobile phone.
Mutafchiev, of no fixed address, appeared at Portsmouth Crown Court on 4 September, where he admitted possessing a Class A drug with intent to supply, possession of cannabis and driving without valid insurance.
He was sentenced to two years in prison.
The Renault Clio was also seized.
Tactical Firearms Unit Inspector Marion Knight said: “Our firearms officers are highly trained in a variety of duties above and beyond armed response.
"This includes support to local policing, making best use of our additional skillsets, on this occasion disrupting the supply of drugs that impacts our communities.
“They were on patrol in Bognor Regis when they saw the suspected drug deals taking place.
“The officers showed quick -thinking, professionalism and teamwork alongside our divisional colleagues to make sure Mutafchiev was arrested.”
Arun District Commander Chief Inspector Kay Hutchings said: “Evidence showed how Mutafchiev was dealing cocaine in Bognor Regis, using a mobile phone to supply class A drugs.
“He was swiftly arrested and following an investigation by Chichester and Arun CID, he pleaded guilty in court. He is now serving a custodial sentence.
“It shows our determination to catch suspects and disrupt criminal networks operating in our communities.”
