East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service is urging people to make sure they are prepared for severe weather, from wildfires and flooding to ice and snow.
The service says extreme conditions can affect homes, businesses, roads and communities, and that taking simple steps in advance can help reduce the risks.
The advice has been issued as part of Day 14 of the national 30 Days, 30 Ways UK emergency preparedness campaign.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue is encouraging people to understand the risks in their local area, regularly check weather forecasts and official warnings, and have a plan in place for emergencies.
The service said being prepared can help people stay safe on the roads and around water, while also helping to protect homes, businesses and families.
Residents are being encouraged to take a few minutes to consider what they would do if severe weather affected their area, including how they would respond to flooding, extreme heat, wildfires, snow or icy conditions.
The campaign also advises people to keep up to date with official weather information and warnings from the Met Office.
Practical advice on preparing for severe weather is available through the Met Office’s WeatherReady guidance.
The 30 Days, 30 Ways UK campaign runs throughout September and aims to encourage individuals, families and communities to think about how they would cope during a range of emergencies.
