BREAKING: Huge fire at Lancing Business Park as six fire engines tackle blaze involving two industrial buildings

A major fire has broken out at Lancing Business Park in West Sussex, with thick black smoke seen rising into the sky and emergency services responding to dozens of 999 calls.

West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service has confirmed that six fire engines, a water carrier and an aerial ladder platform are currently at the scene in Chartwell Road, where two industrial buildings are involved in the blaze.

The emergency services received the first of around 50 calls reporting the fire at 4.24pm.

V2 Radio's Paul Williams, who is in the area, has reported seeing a large amount of black smoke rising from the direction of Lancing Business Park.

Firefighters are working to bring the blaze under control, with residents and motorists being urged to stay away from the area while emergency crews deal with the incident.

People living nearby are also being advised to keep their doors and windows closed because of the smoke.

A spokesperson for West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service said:

"We received the first of around 50 999 calls at 4.24pm, alerting us to a large fire at Lancing Business Park in Chartwell Road.

"We currently have six fire engines, a water carrier and aerial ladder platform at the scene.

"The fire is involving two industrial buildings and crews are working hard to bring the fire under control.

"Residents are asked to avoid the area and keep their doors and windows closed if they live nearby."

The scale of the emergency response reflects the seriousness of the incident, with specialist firefighting equipment being deployed to tackle the blaze.

There has been no official confirmation of any injuries or what caused the fire.

It is also not yet known how badly the two industrial buildings have been damaged.

Firefighters remain at the scene, and further details are expected as the incident develops.
