A technical issue has left a council unable to receive phone calls or emails, while online payments have also been disrupted.
Gosport Borough Council said its IT systems are experiencing problems today, Thursday, October 1, affecting several services used by residents.
In a post on social media platform X, the authority said its phone lines and email systems were currently unavailable, while online payments had been temporarily suspended.
The council’s front desk at Gosport Town Hall remains open, but staff are unable to take card payments.
Residents visiting in person can currently pay only by cash or cheque.
A council spokesperson said: “Due to an IT issue our phone and emails are currently down.
“Online payments are temporarily unavailable.
“Our front desk is open at the Town Hall, we are currently unable to take card payments and can only accept cash or cheque.
“We are working to fix this issue.”
The council has not said what caused the problem or how long it is expected to last.
