Two sisters from Haywards Heath, who tragically lost their father following a cycling collision, have become Young Ambassadors for Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex (KSS).
Eloise Corrick, 12, and her younger sister Josephine, 11, have taken on the roles as the charity celebrates the fifth anniversary of its Young Ambassador programme.
The sisters have a deeply personal connection to the charity after its emergency crews responded to a road traffic collision involving their father, Daniel Corrick, in January 2022.
Despite receiving specialist emergency medical care, Daniel sadly died following the collision.
Since his death, the family has continued to receive support through the charity's Patient and Family Aftercare Service.
Now, the sisters are hoping to use their experiences to raise awareness of the lifesaving work carried out by KSS across Sussex, Surrey and Kent.
Speaking about her new role, Eloise said: "I'm extremely proud to have this opportunity and advertise this amazing charity, after they did all they could to help my Dad. I am very thankful to everyone who works for this charity."
Josephine added: "I'm very happy to be part of the Young Ambassadors, and I can't wait to help spread awareness about KSS Air Ambulance charity."
The KSS Young Ambassador programme was launched five years ago to give young people with a personal connection to the charity an opportunity to share their experiences and support fundraising and awareness activities.
Since its introduction, the programme has helped young people become advocates for the charity, highlighting the importance of its emergency medical services and inspiring others within their communities.
Eloise and Josephine will join a growing group of young ambassadors helping to promote the work of the air ambulance and encourage support for its lifesaving operations.
Sarita Taneja, KSS Patient and Family Aftercare Manager, praised the sisters for their courage and determination.
She said: "Eloise and Josephine have shown such courage since the very sad passing of their lovely Dad. They both have very kind hearts and a willingness to help others. I know their bravery will be inspiring to many other young people. We welcome them both with open arms to our Young Ambassador team."
The charity provides advanced pre-hospital emergency medical care to critically ill and injured patients across Kent, Surrey and Sussex.
Its work relies on the generosity of supporters and donations to continue delivering specialist emergency care.
Through their new roles, Eloise and Josephine hope to encourage others to learn more about the charity, support its fundraising activities and recognise the difference its crews and aftercare services make to patients and their families.
