A man in his 40s has been taken to hospital after being stabbed during an altercation outside Portslade Railway Station.
Sussex Police were called to the station at around 7.20pm on Thursday (8 October), following reports that a man had suffered a stab wound.
Officers believe the victim was injured during an altercation involving four men and two women outside the railway station.
All six individuals are believed to be in their late teens or early twenties.
The victim was taken to hospital, where he received treatment for a single stab wound. Police have confirmed he remains in a stable condition.
An investigation is now underway to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and identify those involved.
Detective Inspector Jennifer Pietersen acknowledged the concern the stabbing may have caused within the local community.
She said: "This incident will have understandably caused concern for local residents.
"Knife crime has no place in our communities, and we continue to work at pace to establish the full circumstances of what happened and identify those involved."
Sussex Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the altercation or may have information that could assist the investigation to come forward.
Officers are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who may have relevant CCTV footage from the area around Portslade Railway Station.
