More than 150 vintage and classic vehicles are set to gather at Amberley Museum this autumn for a celebration of more than a century of transport heritage.
The museum’s Autumn Historic Vehicle Gathering will take place on Sunday, 4 October 2026.
The event will feature a wide range of vehicles from across the decades, including classic cars, motorcycles, steam and stationary engines, historic public transport and commercial vehicles.
Visitors will be able to see the vehicles on display and moving around the museum site, while meeting owners and volunteers to learn more about their history, engineering and restoration.
The gathering will also celebrate the people who have helped develop Amberley Museum since it was established in 1978, including generations of volunteers and staff.
Historic transport will be operating throughout the day, with visitors able to take a ride on a vintage bus or travel behind Peter, the museum’s steam locomotive dating from 1918.
There will also be an opportunity to take the controls of a locomotive through the museum’s Drive a Locomotive experience.
Participants can drive a locomotive along one of Amberley Museum’s industrial railway lines without a train attached, with a suggested donation of £5.
Amberley Museum is set within 36 acres at the foot of the South Downs and features working exhibits, demonstrations and collections covering transport and industrial heritage.
