A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of a woman in Portsmouth.
Hampshire Police were called to an address in Cyprus Road shortly before 10am on Monday 14 September following concerns for the welfare of a resident.
A woman in her 70s was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
Police say an investigation is under way to establish the exact circumstances surrounding her death, which is currently being treated as suspicious.
As part of the investigation, a 48-year-old man from Portsmouth has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.
Officers remain at the scene while enquiries continue.
Anyone with concerns or information about the incident is being encouraged to speak to uniformed Neighbourhood Policing Team officers who are patrolling the area.
