Voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations across Portsmouth are being invited to apply for new funding aimed at helping them secure investment and become more financially sustainable.
Portsmouth City Council has approved £200,000 for a new match-funding scheme, which is being delivered in partnership with HIVE Portsmouth.
Eligible organisations applying to external funders can apply for a council contribution worth up to 10 per cent of their external funding bid, capped at £10,000 per organisation in each financial year.
The funding is designed to strengthen applications to national and other external funders by demonstrating local financial backing.
Alongside the council scheme, HIVE Portsmouth is offering its own Sustainability Fund, providing grants of up to £5,000.
That money is intended to help organisations bridge short-term funding gaps while waiting for decisions on external funding bids, helping essential community services continue during periods of financial uncertainty.
Applicants must be a registered charity, social enterprise or not-for-profit community group and either be based in Portsmouth or deliver work in the city.
Organisations will also need to demonstrate how their work meets local needs and city priorities, and how receiving funding would improve their longer-term sustainability.
Applications are open and are being assessed on a rolling basis.
HIVE Portsmouth is providing support and guidance to organisations interested in applying.
Decisions on awards from Portsmouth City Council's match-funding scheme will be made by a council panel, while HIVE Portsmouth will decide applications to its Sustainability Fund.
