A police car has been left hanging over the edge of Ryde Pier on the Isle of Wight following a collision involving two vehicles this morning (Tuesday, 13 October).
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that the crash happened at around 10.09am and involved a police vehicle which had been responding to an incident.
Images seen by V2 Radio show the police car in a precarious position on the pier, with extensive damage to the front of the vehicle.
Despite the dramatic scenes, police have confirmed that nobody was injured.
The collision has caused disruption to ferry services between the Isle of Wight and Portsmouth, with the FastCat service between Portsmouth Harbour and Ryde Pier Head suspended.
The ferry operator confirmed that the suspension was due to an ongoing traffic incident, with passengers being offered an alternative way to travel.
FastCat said: "Tickets will be accepted on Hovertravel services on a first-come basis."
In a statement, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said: "We’re currently dealing with a collision on Ryde Pier, which happened at around 10.09am this morning.
"The collision involved two vehicles, one of which was a police car which had been responding to an incident.
"No one has been injured."
The circumstances surrounding the collision have not yet been established, and it remains unclear how long disruption to ferry services will continue.
V2 Radio will provide further updates as more information becomes available.
