Six fire engines were called to a residential building fire in Brighton on Thursday evening (8 October).
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to the blaze in York Place at around 6.52pm, following reports of a fire at a residential property.
Fire crews arrived at the scene and began tackling the flames, with six fire engines in attendance.
By 7.16pm, firefighters were using breathing apparatus and one main jet to bring the blaze under control.
Members of the public were advised to avoid the area while emergency services dealt with the incident.
In an update issued at 7.45pm, East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that the fire had been extinguished.
The fire service also confirmed that everyone inside the building had been safely evacuated and accounted for.
