Firefighters are tackling a house fire on Shripney Road in Bognor Regis this morning.
West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service says six fire engines have been sent to the scene, along with an aerial ladder platform.
The incident is on the A29 Shripney Road, south of the Oldlands Way roundabout.
People are being asked to avoid the area while emergency crews deal with the fire and to allow firefighters to work safely.
Residents living nearby have also been advised to keep their windows and doors closed because of smoke coming from the incident.
A spokesperson for West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service said: “We were called at 6.31am to reports of a fire in Shripney Road, Bognor Regis.
“Joint Fire Control mobilised six fire engines and an aerial ladder platform to the scene.
“Upon arrival crews found a house well alight. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are working to extinguish the fire.
“People are being advised to avoid the area and to keep doors and windows closed if they live nearby.”
The scale of the response means disruption is likely around Shripney Road while the emergency operation continues.
