Flights at London Gatwick and Southampton Airport are facing disruption this afternoon because of a technical problem affecting NATS air traffic control services.
London Gatwick has confirmed it is among a number of UK airports affected by the issue.
A London Gatwick spokesperson said: “We are aware of a NATS technical issue that is currently affecting a number of UK airports, including London Gatwick.
“Passengers are advised to check with their airlines for more information regarding their flights.”
Southampton Airport is also experiencing disruption.
Airport operator AGS Airports said the technical issue is affecting some flight departures, with delays possible on services operating to and from the airport.
An AGS spokesperson said: “A technical issue affecting NATS air traffic control services is causing disruption to some flight departures. As a result, some services operating to and from our airports may experience delays.
“We apologise for any inconvenience and advise passengers to check with their airline for the latest flight information before travelling.”
NATS has said it is investigating the technical problem, which is causing disruption to flight departures, with engineers working to resolve the issue.
A number of airports across the UK are being affected.
Passengers due to travel from Gatwick or Southampton are being advised to check directly with their airline for the latest information before heading to the airport.
