Thousands of runners are taking to the streets of Portsmouth today (Sunday 18 October) for the 2026 Great South Run, one of the biggest running events on the South Coast.
More than 25,000 people of all ages are expected to participate across the weekend's events, with crowds lining the streets to cheer them on.
The main 10-mile race starts and finishes at Avenue de Caen in Southsea, taking runners through some of Portsmouth's most famous landmarks.
The route passes Spinnaker Tower, Portsmouth Harbour, the Historic Dockyard and the naval base before heading through residential streets.
Runners then return towards the seafront, passing the D-Day Memorial and Canoe Lake before completing the course near Southsea Castle.
The event site opens at 7am, with elite women starting at 10.15am, wheelchair and visually impaired participants at 10.19am and elite men at 10.35am.
Other runners will set off in waves between 10.35am and 11.35am.
Olympic athlete Iwan Thomas is this year's official race starter.

Among those taking part are Stagecoach South East Managing Director Joel Mitchell, 50, and his 17-year-old son Jasper.
The pair are running in memory of Joel's daughter Maisie, who was stillborn 18 years ago.
They are raising money for Eastbourne-based charity Muma Nurture, which supports families affected by pregnancy and baby loss.

Motorists are being warned of significant disruption, with road closures affecting Clarence Parade, South Parade, Eastern Parade, Henderson Road and other roads along the route.
Race-related closures are scheduled from 9.30am, with roads reopening progressively between 1.30pm and 5pm when safe.
Organisers are encouraging spectators to use public transport and allow extra time for journeys.
