Two men have been charged following a police investigation into a series of burglaries and theft-related offences targeting businesses in Bognor Regis.

Sussex Police have been investigating reports of break-ins at commercial premises across the town during August and September.

Officers have now confirmed that two men have been charged in connection with the investigation.

Matthew Perry, 38, of Tennyson Road, Bognor Regis, faces a number of charges, including burglary, fraud by false representation, criminal damage, attempted burglary and handling stolen goods.

The charges relate to several incidents across the town during August.

Perry is accused of burgling Boots in London Road on 6 August, along with two counts of fraud by false representation involving the use of two bank cards on the same day.

He also faces a charge of handling stolen goods relating to bank cards in Sudley Road.

Further charges relate to an attempted burglary and criminal damage at the One Stop convenience store in Durlston Drive, Bersted, on 25 August.

Perry is also accused of another attempted burglary in Durlston Drive on 28 August.

A second man, Isaac Manning, 22, of no fixed address, has been charged with attempted burglary at the One Stop store in Durlston Drive on 25 August.

Both men appeared before Crawley Magistrates' Court on 2 October.

They have been released on bail and are due to appear before a Crown Court, with the venue yet to be confirmed, on 30 October.

Meanwhile, a 34-year-old man who was arrested in connection with other theft incidents remains on police bail while further enquiries continue.

District Commander Chief Inspector Kay Hutchings said: “Officers are working hard to tackle burglary and to work alongside businesses which have been impacted in the town.

“We continue to urge anyone impacted to report incidents to us, and to report information to us including relevant CCTV, doorbell, mobile phone or dashcam footage to support our ongoing investigations.”

Sussex Police are encouraging businesses and residents who may have information about the incidents to come forward.

Anyone with relevant footage or information can contact Sussex Police online or by calling 101.
