The University of Chichester has been shortlisted for two Times Higher Education awards, recognising its work in marketing and environmental sustainability.
The university was named as a finalist on 3 September in the categories of Outstanding Marketing/Communications Team of the Year and Outstanding Contribution to Environmental Leadership.
The Times Higher Education Awards, now in their 22nd year, recognise achievements across the higher education sector in the UK and Ireland.
The marketing nomination follows the introduction of the university’s refreshed brand and communications strategy, which was designed to help prospective students develop a stronger sense of connection and belonging.
The campaign used student stories, personalised communications and a more human-centred approach to represent the experience of studying at Chichester.
Emily Tann, Associate Director of Marketing, Brand and Communications, said: “We are incredibly proud to be shortlisted for Outstanding Marketing/Communications Team of the Year. This recognition reflects the passion, creativity and commitment of our team, and the fantastic collaboration we have with colleagues across the University. Our ‘Together we...’ campaign was built on a simple idea: helping prospective students feel a genuine sense of belonging before they even arrive. We're thrilled that this work, and the impact it has had on our students and applicants, has been recognised.”
The university’s environmental leadership nomination recognises work to reduce waste and carbon emissions through a smart reusable cup scheme introduced across its campuses.
The initiative is aimed at removing single-use cups from university sites.
Lucy Ferre, Energy and Carbon Manager at the University of Chichester, said: “We are thrilled to be recognised for the work we've been doing to reduce our environmental impact at Chichester. Special thanks go to BaxterStorey and Circular&Co. for partnering with us to remove single-use cups from our campuses.”
Times Higher Education Editor Chris Havergal said: “These continue to be challenging times for our higher education sectors, but that makes it only more important to celebrate the contribution of the teams and individuals who continue to transform lives for the better, week in, week out, across the UK and Ireland. It is a huge achievement to have reached this stage in another very competitive year.”
The winners will be announced at the Times Higher Education Awards ceremony in Birmingham in November.
