EXCLUSIVE: An ex-postmaster from Singleton Post Office has been speaking out about the Horizon IT Scandal

Ex-postmaster from Singleton Post Office Penny Barc was accused of stealing £11,500 which she denies.

Today, Justice Secretary, Alex Chalk is meeting with the minister responsible for the Post Office to discuss how hundreds of branch managers across the country, who were wrongly convicted because of a faulty computer system, could clear their names.

Penny told V2 Radio News how the scandal affected her life, making her mentally ill and thinking that people were talking about her. She is calling for more to be done to help people like her.

MP for Chichester Gillian Keegan commented:

“The Post Office Horizon scandal has had a devastating impact on the lives of many sub-postmasters and I am fully behind their fight to have their convictions overturned. I have met with the sub-postmasters in my constituency who were affected and will continue to support their cases to claim compensation through the schemes available.

“I have said previously that I believe Paula Vennells should return her CBE and I am pleased she has now done so. This is a step in the right direction as we look to deliver swift justice and compensation for those who have been wrongly convicted.”

Meanwhile West Sussex MP, Andrew Griffiths the Minister of State for the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology said: "The scandal around the prosecution of sub-postmasters is clearly an appalling miscarriage of justice. The most important thing is they are exonerated, they are compensated and if there is fault found I would strongly support the honours forfeiture committee looking a revoking the former boss' CBE."
