Planning permission has been granted for a new sports and community hub at Palmer Road Recreation Ground in Angmering.
Further details will need to be approved before work can begin, including plans for lighting, drainage and biodiversity.
The scheme includes a community building, changing rooms, football pitches and an artificial cricket wicket.
The construction of the new sports hub is subject to funding confirmation, with £3million of Section 106 funding allocated to the scheme, with total costs estimated at £10million.
Chair of the Policy and Resources Committee, Councillor Martin Lury said: “It's fantastic to see the Angmering Sports Hub take a major step forward with the approval of planning permission. This project represents a significant investment in high quality sports and community facilities for Angmering and the wider district.
While the final delivery of the Hub is dependent on securing the necessary funding, we remain committed to bringing this valuable facility to the community.”
