Police investigating a serious assault in Chichester city centre are appealing for witnesses and information.
The incident happened between the cross and the Buttermarket in North Street at about 11.25pm on Tuesday, 10 March.
It was reported that two men in their 30s had been together near the railway station and then in the Cathedral grounds prior to the incident, and walked towards the city centre.
An altercation occurred, and the victim, a 38-year-old man, was struck to the floor twice and assaulted on the ground.
He was taken to hospital for treatment and was subsequently discharged.
Officers attended and a 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent, and has been bailed pending further enquiries.
Anyone who may have seen the earlier interaction between the men that night, or the incident, is asked to come forward.
Anyone with relevant CCTV, mobile phone footage is also asked to report it to Sussex Police online and quote serial 1513 of 10/03.
