Bognor Town Football Club bring festive cheer to the community

Rocks fans brought a sense of festive cheer to the recent Enfield Town fixture by raiding their larders to help donate to a local foodbank just in time for Christmas.

Bognor foodbank supports a nationwide network of food banks and together they provide emergency food and support to people locked in poverty, and campaign for change to end the need for food banks in the UK.

In the UK, more than 14 million people are living in poverty – including 4.5 million children. Bognor Regis Foodbank is part of a network of more than 1,200 food bank centres in the UK to provide a minimum of three days’ nutritionally-balanced emergency food to people who have been referred in crisis, as well as support to help people resolve the crises they face. Between April 2019 and March 2020, food banks in our network provided a record 1.9 million food supplies to people in crisis, an 18% increase on the previous year and during the coronavirus pandemic food banks have seen need rise even further.

Supporters club chairman Ian Guppy delivered the large food parcel to the foodbank yesterday (21st) with his family and was proud of the efforts the fans of the Rocks had achieved.

He stated "being so close so Christmas I'm ecstatic at the generosity of our fans, but it doesn't surprise me at all. At Bognor I know we have a loyal, proud and generous fan base and yesterday showed it in abundance."

The delivery of food essentials and some yummy treats will help those in need at this time.

Ian also confirmed that he had invited the local foodbank too a game in the new year too as a feature charity for the day.

Bognor Regis Town FC are proud to support the local foodbank and all of the other community and charity projects we have this season.
